If I lived in a community where I would have to choose my job for the rest of my life I would be horrified. Twelve years old, you have gotta' be kidding me. I don't think that any twelve year old is ready to choose their future careers because most kids our age aren't fully matured yet. We have a sixth grade education, no money and have never thought twice before about getting a job. I understand if kids say they want to be a professional wrestler, or baseball player when they grow up. Those kinds of things are dreams. I don't think kids at the age of twelve are ready to make a decision on what they want to do for a living because a lot of them can barely make it by each semester on grades. We still have a lot of years left in life. We have no experience what so ever in working in an actual job. I also don't think any of us would be able to handle all the things a job requires and the responsibilities we have.
A lot of kids our age (twelve) say that they know what their job is going to be and what kind of life they are going to have when they get older. More than half of those kids just relate to things the find "cool" and have seen on TV or they relate it to something they enjoy like sports, fashion, cars. A lot of kds get sucked into these kinds of things because they see a lot of other kids do it, so they think they have to do it so they won't look different.
If I had to choose a life assignment ir job I would want to be an engineer. I would want this to be my assignment because I love to work with mechanics. I think it would be the perfect assignment for me.
World Peace, no war, end poverty and homelessness. These are a few things that come to my mind when I think of a perfect world. None of us know or have experienced a perfect world because there is always a problem some where.
One thing that I think the world needs to be perfect is world peace. I say we need world peace because people around the world are constantly causing wars, fighting with each other, or causing any type of violence. Why can't everyone just get along and work together on problems. This would make the world so much better because countries won't be constantly fighting. We could actually get along for once. Countries could put aside their diferences and work together to make peace. For one day we wouldn't have to be worried about being attacked or attacking a different country.
Another thing that I think would make the world a better place is ending world hunger and poverty. This is very important in a peaceful world because 42% of homeless kis are under the age of 6. Also 13% of the American population lives in poverty. If we could end this so many people can finally live happy lives. They won't have to live in boxes anymore or beg for money to by food. They could get a good job, be successful, and maybe even have a family. Think about all the people who have been suffering and barely getting by on paying their bills. We could help them. One little action can cause a chain reaction.
These are some things that the world must do to have a peaceful society. This is the first step in our thousand mile journey.
The biggest standardized testing of the U.S.A. is called the NJ ASK (New Jersey Assessment of skills and knowledge) Even though this test can be nerve racking and stressful, there are a few things that can help make the NJ ASK less intense for you.
The first thing to remember about taking the NJ ASK is that you need to get a lot of sleep/rest the night before each testing session. You need to get at least 10 hrs. and 30 min. of sleep. You need to be alert and focus when you take the test. You won't pass if you dose off and fall asleep during the testing session. Getting the right amount of sleep will help you stay focused and concentrated on your work and you won't fall asleep.
The second rule to help you take the NJ ASK is have a big, healthy breakfast. You need to have a good breakfast so you won't get hungry during testing which can take up to 1 hr. and 30 min. As they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it is. Studies show that kids who eat bigger healthier breakfasts score better on tests that kids who don't.
There is still a lot more handy helpers to go. Number three, if you finish the test early don't sit down and do nothing; go back and check all work until the testing time is over. This is one of the most important things to do when taking the NJ ASK. You should go back and check your work if you still have extra time because you never know if you get something wrong unless you go back and look it over. After you have checked your work you should be very confident in saying that you got a perfect score in that section. It doesn't kill you you to go back and look over the work you have done. You should be very confident about what you wrote or answered on the test.

It was a regular Friday morning and Tina was getting ready for school. As Tina and her class settled into the classroom the loud speaker boomed through the school. Mr. Stroud ,the school principal spoke through the speaker very clearly so that everyone can hear.
"Good morning students of Applewood Middle School. Next week is going to be very special because we are hosting our 15th annual talent show. All students who would like to preform must see me or your homeroom teachers for permission slips. Thank you and have a great day." Tina couldn't believe what she had just heard. After coming in 2nd place last year in the talent show and losing to Brianna Nimmo she has been practicing hard everyday counting down the days to the big day. This year Tina is going to sing in the talent show. Everyone knows Tina is an outstanding singer, but Brianna is just as good. Tina wanted to win so badly. The song she was going to sing is called "Price Tag" by Jessie J. Tina wanted to sing this song because she loved the rhythm of the music, the lyrics were inspirational and she loved the song. Tina never payed a lot of attention to the other kids who were preforming because she was to focused on practicing until she satisfies herself. One thing Tina knew for sure was that Brianna was going to be singing to and it was going to be very hard to beat her. You would think Tina and Brianna hate each other and have always been rivals. Shockingly they are actually very good friends who enjoy singing, and competing against each other. They also never get mad or jealous of each other if one wins and the other doesn't.
After a few anxious days of waiting and practicing it was finally the day before the talent show. All the students at Applewood Middle School have been talking about who they think is going to win the talent show. Of course it was between two people Tina and Brianna. Usually after practicing long and hard Tina and Brianna spend the last day or two looking at their competition if there is any. Both of them know to much of practicing and preparing isn't always good for you.
The next day Tina was so anxious for school to finish because she has been waiting for the talent show for ever. As the final bell rang signalling that school was over students started to file out of the building. More than two dozen students who were competing in the talents show walked together to the auditorium. As it neared 5:30 the students got ready to preform. At first the talent show seemed to run very quickly. When it was almost Tina's turn to preform she spotted Brianna. They both got together and started chatting.
"So, I never got the chance to ask you what you were doing for the show tonight?" Tina asked
"Oh, well I'm going to sing Price Tag by Jessie J." She replied.
As soon as Tina heard the words she almost passed out because she was so shocked. Without saying a word Brianna knew the problem.
After a bit of talking the girls fixed their problem and had calmed down. As Tina's turn edged closer she and Brianna were waiting anxiously. As the roar of the applauds drifted off Tina took the stage. Tina knew this was going to be the best talent show ever. The music started playing and Tina started singing. A quarter way through the song Brianna came on the stage with so much energy and enthusiasm the crowd was on their feet. The two best friends were singing their favorite song together. As they sang the final lyrics of the song the crowd broke into applause.
As the two girls walked off stage, Tina said, "I can't wait until next years talent show!!"

This weekend was one of the best college basketball matchups yet. The first game was with the underdogs, number 11 VCU (Virginia Commonweath University) against number 8 seed butler. The whole game the two teams were neck and neck. They traded baskets almost every possesion. Butler vs. VCU was a tight game throughout the night and tight games is where Butler shines. Butler finally had a scoring frenzy towards the end of the game and that managed them to come out with a 70-62 victory. Sheldon Mack who led the Bulldogs with 23 points was a very key player for Butler. Not far behind him was Matt Howard with 17 points for the bulldogs. The leading scorer was Jamie Sheen with 27 points. The VCU Rams and Sheen played their hearts out but came up short. I think Butler won because they had more experience in situations like these and they just knew what to do.
The second game was with number 3 UCONN and number 4 Kentucky. After having a cold first half Kentucky came out red hot right from the gecko in the second half. Kentucky's was knocking down every shot they took. Leaving the first half down by 10 Kentucky was finally tied with UCONN 46 all. After this it was all UCONN and Kemba Walker. Kentucky is down by 2 with 16 seconds left. Kentucky's Liggins took a contested three and he missed. UCONN prevailed in a close gmae 56-55. Uconn's leadings scorer was Kemba Walker with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 rebounds, and 1 block. Kentucky's best was Terrance Jones with 11 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals, and 1 block. So for the NCAA national championship is going to be #3 UCONN and #8 Butler.

One of the greatest electronic/phone device is the iPhone. The iPhone is one of the best smart phones ever created. It has so many great features and apps. Practically my whole family has some type of I device. I myself own an iPhone 3G. It may be the old version but it still is a very great. My iPhone is "jail broken" which means that I have no restrictions what so ever. I could customize my lock screen, home screen, applications and basically anything.
Since I have jail broken my iPhone I have customized my phone to look really cool. Some things I have on my phone is a tweak called barrel. What barrel allows you to do is change your slide orientation from page to page to whatever you want. Another thing I have on my phone is called installous. What installous allows you to do is download paid apps for free. My last thing I have on my iPhone is called winter board. What winter board allows you to do is customize your wallpapers. Over the past few years a new social networking site called Facebook has gotten so popular in the U.S. I think that the U.S. population has gotten some say addicted to Facebook. I say this because I did some research and I found that more than 40% of the U.S. population owns at least one live Facebook account. I also read up on that more than one million people sign on an off Facebook every day. That means over seven million people go on Facebook in a week!!
I myself own a Facebook account and I go on once or twice each day. But I have some friends that stay on for three hours straight. Another interesting fact I read up on is that it is very bad to stare/look at a computer or TV screen for a certain amount of time. Also I have realized that kids who stay on Facebook to long get lazier and lazier until it gets to the point where they never step foot outside. I understand Facebook is a fun website to communicate with your friends and play games, but don't spend your whole day on it. Instead of going on Facebook there are plenty of other fun things you could do, such as go outside and play sports, go to a friends house, or ride your bike. I'm not saying never use Facebook again, but don't spend your whole day playing games or instant messaging you friends on Facebook. This Sunday one of the greatest sporting events will take place. Super Bowl 45 will take place Sunday February 6th in Austin, Texas. The two lucky teams that get to play in this exciting game are the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburg Steelers. In this game the Packers are the underdogs. Heres a fun fact more than half of the players on the Steelers have been to at least one super bowl and the Packers have had only two players to play. The team that I would like to win the Super Bowl is the Green Bay Packers because they have come a long way this season. With a great quarterback the packers have an outstanding offense that I think will run all over the Steelers defense. On top of that the Packers have an amazing defense led by B. J. Raji and Clay Matthews. Don't get me wrong the Steelers are a great team but the Packers have an all around team that plays their heart out every game!!!!! We only have two snow days for the whole school year! I think this is kind of crazy becauase 1/3 of the year has a chance for it to snow. This year we have already used up our two snow days and it's only the middle of January. I think that we should have more snow days built into the school year or we don't cancel school over every little thing because I think it's kind of insane that we are out of snow days already and winer isn't even over.
Even though being out of school is fun if we use over two snow days, the Edison Board of Education would start taking days out of our spring break. I don't think any of us will like that. All I'm trying to say is that we should be careful when we use our snows days and ask yourself is it really necessary that we take off today. As you know I have been playing basketball for about 7 years. This year am playing for the Edison Travel team. This is a very organized league. My team and I play for two different leagues. Both leagues have a fierce competition. Our record is 8 wins and 2 losses. We are undefeated in one league (5-0) and 3-2 in the other. In my opinion I think my team is very good at winning the state championship. Everyone gives practices and games 150% all the time. When everyone plays their heart out there is a 100% chance we will win that game. My whole team treats everything seriously and practices hard. We always strive for first place because we live by a saying: "Second place is always first loser."
Everyone on my team strives to be the top. We try to improve our skills anytime we get to practice. Overall I think my team is very talented, athletic, hardworking, smart, enthusiastic, and always give 150% all the time. Lets go Edison!! "You must achieveto succeed!!"
My number one goal for the new year is to win the state championships for my basketball team. This is my #1 goal because I have been playing basketball for more than 5 years and the closest I have came to winning it all was right there in 2nd place. I have been craving a championship for more than 2 years. This year I am very confident that my team and I will come out victorious. Over the past years I realized many things must be done to have a chance to play in the championships. You have to be dedicated to practicing, you have to give 150% all the time, and you have to get your whole team involved because there is no I in Team. My team and I have been training hard for months. Every practice is hardcore and fatal because we need to shape up if we want a chance in the championships. If we don't work together as a team and don't try our best the other teams will eat us up when we play. The compettion is brutal; there are some teams that will physically hurt you and others that will mentally hurt you. The way to handle this is to block everything out of your mind and give it everything you got. My dad always told me to play my heart out. I have my goals high and it's just a matter of time before I reach the top!!
